With the Montana Representatives failing to pass HB 371, which would have banned mRNA vaccines (not gene therapies) in humans and then tabling HB 418 in committee, banning the technology in animals, our hard fought battle to protect our people and animals from this harmful product is essentially over for now. There are rumblings of our new Secretary of Health & Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, taking action to get it off the shelves, so that may be our best hope for now. We remain grateful for our good Rep Kmetz for sponsoring these highly contentious bills and for those Representatives who took personal risk to support the two bills.
Not to stay away from the arrows for long, our next bill to be heard is:
HB 682, Generally revise laws regarding gender transition treatment. This will offer real help to those who were harmed by gender transition treatment as minors by extending the period of time to file for medical malpractice to 25 years, rather than the three years that is current Montana law. It will also require insurance companies to cover de-transition care if they cover transition services.
We are appreciative of Montana Family Foundation, Do No Harm, and Genspect (UK) for weighing in on this bill. Here is the bill text:
We expect significant opposition from the insurance companies, the LBTQ community, MHA, MMA, physicians providing gender care, and Planned Parenthood (did you know that they provide gender care?).
The hearing is this Saturday, March 1st 7 am in House Judiciary, Rm 137.
We have some great expert testimony lined up but would love more. Many of these young people were cheered on, exalted, made to feel set apart and special when they were transitioning, but then vilified, hated on and shunned if they started questioning their decision. They need help and support.
If you can testify in person or online, we’d love to hear from you! To participate online, please register here. You’ll need to create an account and register Friday night to give remote testimony on HB 682. Please note- it is audio only. You don’t need to be all showered and pretty.
Two additional bills that we are engaging on this week are:
HB 637: Provide for medical aid in dying
The hearing was in House Judiciary this morning and it was an emotionally and morally challenging 90 minutes. So many heartbreaking stories of watching loved ones suffer with a terminal illness. If one just listens with compassion, it is easy to believe that this bill will be good for Montana. I found myself praying for answers and clarification during the testimony and I kept returning to my Biblical worldview and the treasuring of all life—whether preborn or end of life—to maintain my opposition to the bill. If you’re interested in watching the testimony, here is the link. The Lieutenant Governor, Kristen Juras, gave powerful testimony in opposition.
There are two Republicans who are wavering and need to hear from YOU. Please call the Legislative Desk at (406) 444-4800 and ask Rep Sharp and Rep Kelly to OPPOSE HB 637. The committee vote will be in the next day or two.
HB 653: Provide for parental right to access child’s health care information. This is self-explanatory-unless you are a democrat. The hearing will be in House Judiciary tomorrow, February 27, 0700. Parents-speak up for your parental rights!
