Hands Off Our Kids!
We heard rumors that one of our priority bills, HB 682, which would give protections to minors harmed in “gender affirming care,” had one of the best hearings of the year in House Judiciary on March 31st. There is now stiff competition for that honor. On Friday, March 21st, Senator Fuller’s SB 218 was heard in House Judiciary. This bill would allow a person of any age to sue in medical malpractice for harm caused to them by interventions to treat gender dysphoria for a period of up to 25 years. That may seem a like a long time, but please, listen to the testimonies of the expert whistleblower, Jamie Reed, who was fully captured by the gender ideology cult and worked in a busy gender clinic in St Louis, MO for almost 5 years; Elle Palmer was transitioned at age 15 right here in Great Falls, MT, at the local Planned Parenthood; Dr Mark Lacey, MD at the Great Falls Clinic; Dr Quintin Van Meter, pediatric endocrinologist with 46 years experience; Prisha Mosley who transitioned as a teenager after a wrongful diagnosis of gender dysphoria and is now left with a lifetime of complications; as well as many other detransitioners and experts in the field. It has been reported to me that this hearing had the most detransitioners testify in a hearing in the entire country. The entire hearing is fascinating. Here is a link . The question/answer segment after the witness testimonies is especially fascinating.
Jamie Reed (click her name for the video link): “The most impactful elements of SB 218 is you have the chance for the first time in our nation’s history that we can say to these harmed patients that we see you and recognize that you exist. We will say to detransitioners, we know that your life matters, that we wish to live in a society that recognizes medical tragedies quickly and seeks justice for those who were harmed.”
Elle Palmer: “Not even a history of sexual abuse will stop these medical professionals from putting a young girl on testosterone. Even if I had known testosterone would give me pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, early onset osteoporosis, and a increased risk of sterility, I wouldn’t have said no. In my mind, there was no other option. It was transition or die.”
Dr Mark Lacy: “The vast majority of physicians do not support this kind of thing. We consider it harmful. There are influential medical organizations which endorse “gender affirming care” and I will say that idealogues are in powerful places and they influence and drive endorsements of these things in spite of the data. There is not a single long-term, large, randomized trial documenting benefit from cross-sex hormones. Not one.”
Dr Quentin Van Meter: “In the short term, these individuals claim happiness, the proponents of the interventions also claim happiness, but long term, they are sad, they are broken and they are sterile.”
Prisha Mosley: “I was a teenager suffering from mental illness when my doctors fraudfully twisted my pain into a gender dysphoria diagnosis and destroyed my health with chemicals and surgery. My doctors never cured my suffering but instead compounded it with iatrogenic harm and medical abuse.”
We have heard two excellent bills this session aimed at stopping this insanity aimed at our youth. We feel the most effective method in doing this is by holding the healthcare practitioners and insurance companies accountable. We are following SB 218 and HB 682 closely and encourage Montanans to contact their representatives and encourage their support of these bills. Check our bill tracker below for links to the bill texts.
HB 682 will have it’s hearing in the Senate Judiciary on March 31st. We are expecting another fantastic hearing. Please come and testify if you are able, or join us on Zoom. We need doctors, counselors, parents, and those who have detransitioned to tell their story. Your voice is powerful!
