Call now to protect Montanans from experimental treatment centers
And vote no to using human embryonic stem cells frequently used in "longevity" experimental treatments
This bill, SB 535, quickly made it from Executive Action two days ago to a floor vote today. In that time period, we have uncovered the dark side of the “longevity sector” which was the powerful force behind this bill. Every proponent in the committee hearing was from an out of state (or country) multimillion dollar BioTech company or venture capitalist salivating at the prospect of operating in Montana with our vague regulations.
All of the proponents were associated with the Alliance for Longevity Initiative (A4LI.org), which describes itself on its website as:
A 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing legislation and policies aimed at increasing healthy human lifespan, with a focus on accelerating equitable access to next-generation therapies.
Doing some digging into the longevity sector brings up the focus of extending one’s natural life by means of research and treatment using human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). This article goes in-depth about the use of hESCs in treating age-related diseases, but was written in 2011 so the advancements since that time has probably been astronomical.
Being an organization that values life starting at conception, and the belief that God Almighty determines the length of our days, we cannot support this bill. We uphold medical freedom in the traditional “Right To Try” condition, which supports using experimental treatments for terminal or progressive diseases and using FDA approved drugs for off-label uses, but this bill’s purpose is bringing the futuristic, “man is the new God” mentality to Montana and we really don’t desire to become the new Silicon Valley of the BioTech industry.
If you have any doubt of this, please, do watch the Committee Hearing: click here. In the video, you will hear Dylan Livingston, the Founder and CEO of The Alliance for Longevity Institute, say that he worked closely with Senator Bogner last session in writing SB 422, thus setting up the framework to continue to expand the Right to Try idea into what SB 535 is. “SB422 sets a commendable precedent for establishing frameworks that align perfectly with A4LI’s mission to extend healthy lifespans by broadening eligibility under the right to try framework. This legislation is designed to enable healthy individuals access to innovative and preventative therapeutics sooner.” We are no longer talking about investigational therapies for incurable diseases.
Only 9 Senators voted against this bill today, mainly due to their PROLIFE beliefs. I spoke to seven of them. I believe that most people don’t understand the implications of the bill. Education is key so please do call or email your senator tonight. Feel free to email this Substack. They meet again at 8 am.
May God bless Montana -
