As 2024 winds down, it brings me so much hope to reflect on the events of this year.
To me, it absolutely felt like the United States was on the brink of Marxism with our open borders, DEI in classrooms and boardrooms, a failing economy, and the family unit and the innocence of childhood under attack. The universities were pushing an amoral relativism and our cities were so crime-ridden that property was sold for pennies on the dollar. Families fled to “red” states looking for safety and sanity. Our police were vilified. Women’s sports and safe, protected spaces for females were no longer a given. Our esteemed physicians and scientists were censored, de-platformed, fired, indicted, and sued. Free speech was no longer guaranteed.
And then America spoke. We rejected it all loud and clear. We want our country back.
Now, the Trump administration is churning out America First patriots for cabinet positions faster than most of us can keep up with. DEI is on the chopping block. Title IX is returning to protect women and girls. A serious border czar is actually going to secure our borders. The criminals of the COVID pandemic will be held accountable. There has been the biggest swing towards conservatism, particularly in young males, than most of us have seen in our lifetime, along with almost every other demographic in the country.
Here in Montana, we have the unique opportunity to continue this trend. There is no time to waste. Although we have lost our supermajority, we have plenty of fierce fighters of freedom, sanctity of life, protectors of children and families, bodily autonomy/medical freedom and liberty. We can continue to win if we are engaged.
This morning, I read about George Washington, the soldier who could not die. From the beginning of his military career in 1755 during the French and Indian War to the Battle of Trenton in 1776, he showed an absolute resolve to claim victory for America, escaping almost certain death numerous times. In the aforementioned Battle of Trenton, his troops had diminished from 28,000 to 2,400 troops due to disastrous losses. They were demoralized, starving, near freezing and many didn’t have boots to wear in the snow. A majority of the soldiers’ term of service would expire on New Year’s Eve-the desertion rate was high and the morale was low. However, on Christmas night, to the encouragement of George Washington riding up and down the line, the soldiers walked a total of 25 miles in a horrendous snowstorm, going 48 hours without eating or rest, and surprised the German troops at Trenton to claim victory.
“Victory or death.” That is what Washington wrote on a slip of paper prior to that battle. That is the mentality that we need now. We have gained ground and the momentum is in our favor. But our country’s return to it’s Christian, moral framework is not a foregone conclusion. It will be a daily battle both in the 50 states and at the federal level. Are we up for it? Do we have the resolve of the soldiers of the Revolutionary War?
Please join the MMFA in this fight. The left is well-organized, well-funded and is passionate. But we have goodness, righteousness and the Almighty with us. He does ask for our action. If you would like training in getting engaged in the legislative process and learning how to testify, the Montana Family Foundation is putting on a fantastic remote training session that I highly recommend:
During the legislative session, which starts on January 6th, I will be sending out communication asking for citizens to testify, provide written comment or just sending a phone message to their legislator asking for a support/oppose vote on bills that fall under our Three Pillars—Medical Freedom/Bodily Autonomy, Protection of the Hippocratic Oath and Allowing Free Speech in Healthcare. Please email me at erin@montanamedicalfreedomalliance.org to let me know your intention and we can have a well organized response to some of the more highly contested, high visibility bills.
Also, please join us and many other prolife organizations at the Capitol Rotunda this Friday to celebrate and honor the many individuals and organizations who fought valiantly to oppose CI-128 and who will continue the fight for LIFE in Montana. Stop by our table, learn more about us and join us in a prayerful march around the Capitol.
On a final note, I want to express a heartfelt “thank you” to the organizations and individuals who have donated most generously to our cause this year. We are all inundated with donation requests so we take these financial gifts with the utmost appreciation and vow to use the funds as scrupulously as possible. May God bless you for your generosity.
Happy New Year to you and yours!
From all of us at Montana Medical Freedom Alliance
